Presidents' Weekend in February: WINTER WINGS FESTIVAL! the Klamath Basin Winter Wings Festival is a four-day event that occurs every President's Weekend. The event opens Thursday evening in the very walkable Downtown of Klamath Falls where arts, food, music, vendors, and store specials will give families and tourists the opportunity to enjoy Downtown as part of the Winter Wings Festival. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Festival offers workshops, tours, vendors, displays, and activities attractive to families at low or no cost. In addition, there are tours to: Crater Lake National Park for snowshoeing, Klamath National Wildlife Refuges for birding, and Lava Beds National Monument for caving and rock art. Experience the Volcanic Legacy Tour. The Klamath Basin is rich with things to do in winter and is a winter wonderland of beauty.
Second Saturday in May: KLAMATH FALLS MIGRATORY BIRD FESTIVAL. FREE! Activities include bird walks, mist netting demonstrations, Link River Historic Walk, Bird migration obstacle course, Bird Olympics, Wildlife Rehab presentation, and much more.
Mid-May: LADD MARSH BIRDATHON is a non-competitive birding opportunity for the whole family and is free of charge. Experienced birders will be at several birding stations to offer assistance and information to the public about birds and bird watching.
Mid-May: FERN RIDGE WINGS & WINE FESTIVAL offers a wide array of activities throughout the day at Domaine Meriwether's new winery and nearby Fern Ridge Reservoir, one of Oregon's best birding areas.
Mid-May: TULELAKE BIRD FESTIVAL. FREE! Enjoy a variety of activities, including: National Wildlife Refuge tours, kid's activities, live bird demos, food and music. 530-667-2231
September 15 - 16, 2007: WINGS OF THE WARNERS FESTIVAL in Alturas, California highlights the birds of the Warner Mountains, and includes guided tours and workshops at the Modoc National Wildlife Refuge, where species include loons, grebes, egrets, and waterfowl.
Everyday: PELICANS ON PARADE! POP! is a unique art fundraiser in Klamath Falls - featuring 7-foot-high, flying pelicans originally sculpted by Stefan Savides of Avian Design, and creatively embellished by Klamath Basin artists. The impressive artwork on the huge pelicans has aroused continuing interest around the Klamath Basin.
