Agency Lake is an appendage to Upper Klamath Lake and is surrounded by private property with public access to the lake at the Wood River Wetland (BLM), Petric Boat Launch and Henzel County Park. Henzel Park is at the southern end of Agency Lake and Petric Boat Launch is at the north end of the lake.
Agency Lake provides for great access to view water birds.
Petric Boat Launch is a small Klamath County park with a gravel parking area, boat ramp and a restroom. The boat launch is situated near the mouth of the Wood River. From the boat launch, there is a narrow canal leading to the river through the marsh.
Henzel Park is also a small Klamath County park with restrooms, a boat ramp and a large gravel parking area.
The best time to bird Agency Lake is in the spring or fall during the migration. During migration, the lake is crowded with waterfowl. On and around the lake look for Common Loon (occasionally), Pied-billed and Horned Grebes, American White Pelican, ducks, geese, swans, Double-crested Cormorant, Osprey, Bald Eagle, gulls, terns, swallows and more.
Modoc Point Road runs west of Highway 97 and Highway 62 and intersects both highways. Both Petric Boat Launch and Henzel Park are well signed and visible from Modoc Point Road. GPS: 121° 55' 55.37" W, 42° 36' 55.43" N.
